Sadly we learnt that the trees that line the road to hartland Quay by Stoke Sculpture garden became diseased and unsafe, they had to be felled, which became clear when one came down in a storm across the road narowly missing a car and landing in my garden and missed my studio by inches! The plants we prepped for the garden got splattered and the railings are twisted beyond repair. As we understand it the trees that came down have to be replaced.
I have copied below the coniditions imposd when planning permission was given for the tree fellling. Have you drawn pu a planting plan, indicating how the plants will be incorporated with the sculpures?
3 Ten (10) x Common Beech; Two (2) x horse chestnut; and four (4) x Common Lime plus 50
meters of English hedging mix are to be planted within the first planting season following the
permitted tree removal. The replacement trees are to be no smaller than 2.5 meters in height
and the hedging to be planted will be of good size and stock. If any trees or plants die,
become damaged or diseased within 5 years of planting, those plants shall be replaced with
the same or similar native non coniferous species in the first available planting season.
